Welcome to the FWA UK Website

FWA UK is a non-political and non-sectarian organisation established to project and bring together a balanced view of Filipino women, their diverse occupations as well as emphasizing their importance and contribution to society by promoting friendship and understanding between the UK and the Philippines.

FWA UK was founded in 1988 in response to an invitation from Mrs. Angeles T. Quimson, the wife of the Ambassador to the Court of St James, Juan T Quimson. The ladies gathered had an exchange of ideas on what they can do to project a positive image of Filipino women in the UK. A core group was formed to pursue this objective, and the Filipino Women’s Association UK was born. To date, FWA UK and the Philippine Embassy in London continue to work together to achieve this goal.

Introducing the Association to the Filipino Community and their counterparts in non-Filipino organisations was its first priority and came through by becoming a member of FIWAL (Federation of International Women’s Association) and the successful cultural presentation of “Santacruzan”. The major fund raising activity of the FWA UK is ‘The Philippine National Day Dinner Dance’ celebration in June.
